What it’s like to Stay at Iberostar Anthelia in Tenerife

by Haley

During my travels I’ve stayed in pretty much every type of accommodation there is from camping in deserts, grabbing a few hours in a sleeping capsule to relaxing 5 star luxury hotels. You name it, I’ve more than likely slept in it!

One of my favourite hotel brands is Iberostar having recently stayed in their hotels last year. Yes, even I like to spoil myself every now and again.

The Iberostar Anthelia hotel in Costa Adeje on the southern coast of Tenerife is the perfect choice for me. It’s away from the main tourist trail but close enough not to be completely isolated. Plus it’s less than a 30 minute drive from Tenerife South airport and a minute or two to walk to the beach.

Why Stay at the Iberostar Anthelia?

The Rooms

Are large, clean and decorated in light pastel colours. And come with all the modern amenities you’d expect from a quality hotel.

Presidential Suite

The beds are large and comfortable allowing for relaxation and restful nights of sleep. A terrace comes as standard regardless of your choice of room and offers either a sea or garden view.

The Food

Regardless of if you decide to go Half-Board or take the all inclusive option, there’s something for everyone. The Iberostar Anthelia has 5 restaurants and 3 bars to choose from.
SeaSoul is your port of call if you love your lobster, go crazy for crabs or enjoy munching mussels.
If you aren’t into eating creatures from the ocean, head to Zeus restaurant where you’ll be catapulted (not literally) around the world and get to choose from six international cuisines – buffet style.
Don’t worry if you’re not into eating creatures of any type. There’s plenty of choice for vegetarians too.
Iberostar prides themselves on their spectacular food – quality, variety, healthy and as far as possible sourced locally.

The Activities

There’s only so much relaxation I can take, and although that’s here in abundance I can’t do it for too long. The Iberostar Anthelia offers a range of sports and other activities both indoors and outside.
A well-equipped gym is on site for you to burn off the calories you’ve consumed in the restaurants and bars. There’s also an app available giving information on football, aqua spinning, table tennis, aerobics, aquagym and pool games. So check what’s on and what you’d like to do.

Away from the hotel grounds, there’s plenty to do in Costa Adeje. You can take a bike tour, play golf  (by staying at the Iberostar Anthelia hotel, you can enjoy discounts at most of the golf courses), go diving or kayaking, or my personal favourite, go for a hike up Mount Teide and see where Clash of the Titans was filmed.
After all that hiking, golfing or cycling, come back to the hotel and stretch out those achy muscles in the spa.

And relax (again)!

Sustainability – Wave of Change

I love Iberostar for this.

‘Proof of its strong commitment to seas and oceans, Iberostar has become the first hotel chain to eliminate and replace single-use plastic products with more environmentally friendly materials in all the rooms of its 36 hotels in Spain. In 2019 it will be a reality in the more than 120 hotels the company has worldwide’.

Iberostar has always been sensitive to all types of environmentally-friendly causes and has now decided to go one step further, with the conviction that everybody’s cooperation is essential to achieve a great goal: for our planet to become a better place for those who inhabit it and for those in generations to come.

With more than 80% of hotels on the beachfront, the company has decided to focus on the conservation of seas and oceans to contribute to the evolution of increasingly sustainable tourism.

This movement has been named “Wave of Change”.

If you have children of your own or are travelling with any, this hotel caters for them too. There’s family-friendly rooms available and Star Camp which is a comprehensive programme divided into age groups, so all children have activities, friends and an atmosphere where they can enjoy themselves to the full during their holiday. In Monkey, children from 4 to 7 can enjoy adventures in the jungle, while Dolphin (8 to 12) is an underwater world where all their adventures start. Activity leaders await your kids in both clubs. Teenagers between 13 and 17 have Eagle: an interactive space where they can experience thrilling adventures.

If you’re looking for winter break or an Easter escape, and want to spend your time in a more relaxed but still convenient area of Tenerife, I recommend staying at Iberostar Anthelia. Or if you fancy somewhere a little closer to home, but still in Spain then the Iberostar Llaut Palma hotel in Playa De Palma in Mallorca is a good alternative.
